Frequently Used

Chromebooks

  • Chromebook Apps – Roman Aguilar provided a handout, How to Push Chrome Apps to Students, and showed the process for teachers to install apps on Chromebooks and share with student devices. Teachers will log into play.google.com/edu and click on Chrome Apps to search for desired apps. When the app is found they will click on Install on Chromebook. To share with students, student email addresses may be grouped to send apps to their devices. Upon clicking “done,” the process is complete. To view installed apps on devices, teachers can go to Manage Content and select the Chrome Apps tab for a list. Apps may be uninstalled from student devices there. Teachers may use Chrome Store to purchase apps and go through their site secretaries for purchase orders. Google may soon provide classroom licenses for educational apps.

Illuminate

If it's your first time logging in to Illuminate at https://hesperiausd.illuminateed.com, use the first letter of your first name and your last name as your username. E.g., Tom Jones would be tjones. If you have a common name, it might be tjones1. If it doesn't work, Tracy Snodgrass at the District can help you. Teachers with hyphenated last names should include the hyphen. The initial password is secret.

Illuminate provides a wealth of help videos and topics at http://illuminate.screenstepslive.com/s/dna_help_manual

Here is a copy of the training the district provided on Illuminate: Hesperia Illuminate Training

If you want to scan tests with an Elmo, you will need to install three separate pieces of software in order of 1,2,3. Here is the zip file containing all the files in the order you need to install them (Windows Version): Illuminate Software Zip (Updated November 2014)

These new tablets are running Windows 8. Office 2010 and Java should have been installed on them before they were distributed.
